I've joined a fandom gift exchange for the summer. Lately, my brain has been terribly empty. No inspirational writing things have been going on at all. I was worried I wouldn't come up with anything since I was so blocked. All my original stuff has been amounting to absolutely nothing.

Finally, I've come up with an idea, and I'm pretty excited. Like always, I'm worried about whether my recipient will like the fic. When you're writing for someone else this personally, there is always a chance that they will not like what you have to offer. Even so, I like to do these challenges from time to time because it stretches my creativity muscles. I'm used to writing for myself, so it's good to sometimes challenge myself to write for someone else. I've only written a couple of words on the story, but I'm satisfied that I'm going to finish it. That's more than I can say for the original stuff I'm working on.

Speaking of original, I've joined Camp Nano for July. This is my first year doing Camp, though I've participated in the main event 15 times. Most of those were fandom related, but some of those were original. Up until now, the original ones have been sitting in drawers (literally; I still write everything by hand first). That may change in the near future.

For Camp, since you can set your own goal and work on either editing or writing, I've decided to edit the book I'm planning on self publishing at the end of the year. I've been trying to get back to it for two years. I had started just before my granny died (and only got a few pages in), but I put it aside in my grief and didn't pick it up again. At the beginning of this year, I made up my mind that I was going to pick up my self publishing dream again. Even if no one buys my book...even if no one ever knows who I am...I want to cross that off of my bucket list.

I've actually got three books at the moment I want to edit and publish. All of them were written during Nanowrimo. The first was 2014, the second 2016, and the third 2018. I'd like to at some point rewrite 2017's story and get it to the point where an edit would be possible. I'm not sure if it will ever happen, though.

As I end this, my second entry, I'd like to give a shout out to http://selfpubbookcovers.com. I love that website so much, and I can't wait to save up enough money to buy a cover from them.
